each song is a journey. With dayflower these journeys often take years. the moment we release (or abandon) a recording is important, but in the process there are interesting landmarks, detours and experimental cul-de-sacs which never get heard.

during this period of downtime and reflection, we have been sifting though the archives, feeling reflective and wistful, with memories of the friendships forming around the music and some wonderful (and difficult) times in our lives.

While we enjoy crafting layers of noise and texture, songs are at the heart of dayflower and we were struck by how these versions have an energy and charm that can sometimes become diluted in the finished product.

additional mixing and edits have been been minimal. Just tidying up the roughest edges like scruffy children getting dressed up for some special occasion has been a challenge. this is as presentable as they will get. A rather dysfunctional tribe of unkempt oddballs, but they are ours and we're fond of them all.

We understand this type of release may not be for everyone, and could be seen as an indulgence reserved for established, heritage bands... and / or musicians running short on new ideas (which we promise we are not!)

But theres's a chance that these versions will connect with a few people, maybe adding a few different hues to the Dayflower picture, so here it is: a small gift to our listeners and friends, far and near.
